And the amount of the cost borne by patients is significantly lower in these countries than in the United States. The Tufts report estimated that US patients' coinsurance rates per covered drug was 33%. In contrast, patients pay a maximum of $13 per prescription in Germany and $10 per prescription in the United Kingdom. In France and the Netherlands, patients have no out-of-pocket payments for cancer drugs.
