In the center of the sculpture is a hole lined with black velvet. The form of the sculpture is abstract, allowing viewers to read into it their own, perhaps unsettled thoughts and feelings. A free-floating sense of uneasiness was characteristic of the 1950s and 1960s when Bontecou's series of fabric-and-iron wall reliefs, including Flit, was made.
