The chapters progressively cover the cavernous sinus to the anterior orbit. Each chapter begins with a section on embryology. Dutton's background in zoology becomes evident as he thoroughly describes the evolution of the structures. The anatomical details are then described, and the written sections of the chapters conclude with clinical correlations, followed by vivid, full-color illustrations that detail each layer of anatomical structures in succession. Despite the significant amount of detail, the concepts remain easy to understand. A chapter of photomicrographs showing histological cross-sections is also included.
