Internet-based resources are gradually replacing written reference books for point-of-care patient care because of their easy accessibility and frequent updating of information. The most popular of these are software programs: electronic books, iBooks, and webinars. New to the medical scene are applications (apps), which can be used on smartphones, portable media players, tablets, and other devices. Apps provide instant access to information, are updated frequently, and are interactive, allowing easy cross-referencing and personalizing of information.
