In mice with Escherichia coli infections, SPMs lessened infection-related symptoms, increased clearance of infectious bacteria, and improved survival rates. Administering the antibiotic ciprofloxacin together with SPMs accelerated the resolution of infections more than giving either SPMs or antibiotics alone.
