AB This is the third edition of the book, which appeared first in 1927 and was reprinted in 1931. The present volume has been entirely rewritten and newly printed. An occasional paragraph from the earlier editions has been retained. The present volume places most of its emphasis on physiology. There have been added a chapter on the feeding of infants written by Dr. P. C. Jeans and one on feeding of the surgical patient by Dr. Dean Lewis. Here is a scientific and practical work on nutrition, discussing each of the dietary constituents fully, concerning necessary normal nutrition, and finally devoting a chapter to the various nutritional diseases as they affect special organs or systems of the body. A large appendix provides tabular data quite complete.
