With the help of excellent diagrams and photographs, the authors have not only given a complete history of the treatment of varicose veins but have reviewed the anatomy, pathology, physiology, etiology, clinical aspects, examination and treatment of the patient suffering from varicose veins and ulcers. The book is dedicated to Rudolph Matas, "universally acclaimed father of vascular surgery," who wrote an interesting foreword. It is gratifying to see that from the hands of itinerant quacks and a few zealous pioneers this subject is now taken over by surgical teachers of international reputation, whose didactic skill and original research have been so well incorporated to produce the first real textbook in this field. One point should be emphasized in recommending this book to the general practitioner: The injection treatment of varicosities is technically so easy that it has
