James E. Darnell Jr, MD, head of the university's laboratory of molecular cell biology, and Robert G. Roeder, PhD, head of the laboratory of biochemistry and molecular biology, will share the $500 000 award for their contributions to science. The presentation will be made at a ceremony on May 11. The annual award, the largest in medicine and science in the United States, was established in 2000 by New York philanthropist Morris “Marty” Silverman.
