RT Journal A1 Ross IB T1 EVidence-based management of stroke JF JAMA JO JAMA YR 2012 FD April 11 VO 307 IS 14 SP 1534 OP 1535 DO 10.1001/jama.2012.439 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jama.2012.439 AB Despite strong areas of data presentation, the book is uneven. Most of the authors are native English speakers, but not all. It is discouraging that the first 2 sentences in the introduction to chapter 1—an otherwise adequate chapter on use of thrombolysis in ischemic stroke—contain grammatical errors. The first 3 chapters are almost purely factual. However, the fourth, on the use of anticoagulant therapy in the prevention of stroke, is both pleasant to read and full of useful up-to-date information, including discussions on dabigatran, diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome, and the management of atrial fibrillation and other disorders of the heart.
