To the Editor: Three Commentaries1- 3 provided differing interpretations of the conclusion from the draft report of the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) that the harms of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening outweigh the benefits of treatment for PSA screen-detected prostate cancer and of the recommendation against the routine use of the test. Scientific evidence is lacking for their arguments for continuing the widespread use of PSA testing.
