Ms J has been overweight since menarche and has attempted to lose weight many times through diet. She had considered gastric bypass surgery in the past but remained unsure whether to proceed. Her medical history included hypothyroidism with Graves disease, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis of both knees, a benign breast mass, and menometrorrhagia.
