As a reference for pediatric residents, it offers a quick overview of many conditions seen in a children's hospital setting. However, it is not helpful for pediatricians in private practice, who may never see these conditions and would not treat them if they did, because most of these disorders are managed by pediatric subspecialists. The book's selective approach would be most useful for the physician who has already diagnosed a condition, knows it is discussed in the book, and wants a quick review of the disorder.
