Those in the first category are written primarily by academics with degrees in management who present the theories of management and then illustrate the theories with case studies or examples. Books in the second category are written by practitioners who often have little or no formal training in management and are basing the book primarily on their own leadership experiences. Both approaches have value, and both will appeal to different audiences.
