Mr Stutsman and Dr Bates, who drafted the Oregon DWD law, do not make
it clear that Mr G ultimately chose a plan of aggressive comfort measures
and withdrew his request for PAS. We neither support nor oppose legalization
of PAS. Our primary aim was to provide a simple message to physicians: explore
the motivation behind a patient's request for PAS before disclosing your personal
views.
