Death rates per 100 000 children aged 1 to 3 years are higher for Latinos than for whites. Occupant death rates per vehicle mile traveled (VMT) are 8 per billion for Latinos aged 5 to 12 years compared with 5 per billion for non-Latino whites. Latinos aged 13 to 19 years have death rates of 45 per billion VMT compared with 30 per billion VMT for non-Latino whites.3
