RT Journal A1 Fontanarosa PB, Blechman AM, Ting W T1 ARe magnets effective for pain control? JF JAMA JO JAMA YR 2000 FD August 2 VO 284 IS 5 SP 564 OP 566 DO 10.1001/jama.284.5.561 UL http://dx.doi.org/10.1001/jama.284.5.561 AB To the Editor: Dr Collacott and colleagues1 provide little information on the magnetic device used in their study, although they report that it had weak flux density, averaging 300 G. However, a previous study demonstrated successful treatment of low back and knee pain with a 2000 G magnetic design.2 In this, as well as other clinical studies on magnetic therapy,3- 4 specifications regarding the magnets used in each study were minimal or completely absent.
