advocates an approach to ethical analysis based on considering the implications
of a particular action or decision for the patient-clinician relationship.
This ethical analysis is a welcome alternative to more traditional ethical
discourse based on the detached application of abstract principles to decisions.
It provides an appropriate complement to the evolution in clinical practice
from a biomedical approach to a biopsychosocial or systems approach now called
"relationship-centered care."2
