One month after submission of their manuscript to JAMA, Drs White and Craig incorporated a company named PENS Inc to produce a Food and Drug Administration–approvable stimulating unit to provide percutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (PENS) therapy. Drs White and Craig completed their financial disclosure statements at the time of submission but these disclosure statements were not updated after the company was incorporated.
