In the Original Contribution entitled "Trends in Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis
in the United States, 1993-1996," published in the September 10, 1997, issue
of THE JOURNAL (1997;278:833-837), 2 errors appear. On page 833, in the fifth
sentence of the "Results" section of the Abstract, the phrases "US-born" and
"foreign-born" appear in the wrong order. The sentence should read: "Rates
of isoniazid and streptomycin resistance were higher for cases among foreign-born
compared with US-born patients, but rates of rifampin resistance and MDR TB
were similar." In the fourth sentence of the first paragraph in the third
column on page 834, the list of states with isoniazid resistance is incorrect.
The sentence should read: "Only Wyoming and Vermont had no reported cases
of isoniazid resistance; Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, North Carolina, South
Dakota, Oklahoma, and Tennessee had 1% to 3% of cases reported as resistant."
