To the Editor.—  In a comment on adrenal-to-brain transplants in the May 22/29 issue of JAMA,1 the work by our group was mentioned in slightly incorrect terms. First, our pioneer operation was performed in March 1982 (not 1985), and a second patient underwent operation one year later. These two patients were reported in 1985.2 Two more patients underwent operation last year and a clinical report appeared recently.3Further, the author of the article commented that "none of the patients has demonstrated any benefit." This does not give the true scientific credit to our tentative operations. None of the patients had permanent improvement from the procedure, but a temporary improvement was registered in all of them, albeit in the first two it was of subtle character. In patients 3 and 4, receiving the transplants in the putamen, a fairly pronounced clinical effect was seen, although it was short
