Yes, the examination was "satisfactory." After surgery, the pathological specimen disclosed that the tumor was not homogeneous, but had areas of necrosis and hemorrhage.
Recent information also appears to implicate diagnostic ultrasound in the delivery of premature infants where data have indicated fetal maturity.
It is often the "single case" in medicine that leads us to reexamine our diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. This is far more acceptable than continuing to use a procedure because it is "generally accepted." Additional controlled data are obviously needed.
