—The Preliminary Conference of the several State Medical Examining and Licensing Boards of the United States, which was held in Washington, D. C., during May, 1891, demonstrated the utility of such Conferences, and resulted, during the session of the American Medical Association last month in Detroit, in the formation of an organization for the purpose of holding Annual Conferences of the Member and ex-Members of each State Medical Examining and Licensing Board of the Union having such a Board.
The meeting in Detroit elected Dr. John H. Rauch, of Springfield, Ill., President; Dr. Wm. W. Potter of Buffalo, N. Y., Vice-President; and Dr. Hugh M. Taylor, of Richmond, Va., Secretary and Treasurer.
As stated in the constitution, the objects of this organization are to elevate the moral and mental tone of the medical profession, to divorce the medical licensing from the teaching powers, to encourage the establishment of medical examining
