At the annual meeting of the Illinois State Medical Society, held in Chicago May 6-9, 1890, Mr. Wm. F. Poole, Librarian, representing the trustees of the Newberry Library, was introduced to the audience, and in a short and effective address, expressed the purpose of the trustees, with reference to a medical library.
In the construction af the library building one Section will be devoted exclusively to medicine. It is their intention to place in that department a library so complete as to meet, as far as possible, the wants of all who wish to consult medical authorities. They will also keep constantly on file, as they are issued, the current numbers of all prominent medical journals published in this, and in foreign countries.
