This is the second edition, enlarged and revised, of a comprehensive textbook which has become a prominent work of present-day German medical literature. That at present Italian, French, and Spanish translations have been prepared indicates its recognition beyond the realm of German-speaking physicians. Lucidly written, it is a concise, unified approach to neurological differential diagnosis.
The first section encompasses the differential diagnosis of the peripheral nervous system. The second main section covers with unusual completeness the circulatory, inflammatory, space-occupying, metabolic-degenerative, developmental, toxic-poisonous, and traumatic conditions. Though the presentation firmly centers on differential diagnosis, therapeutic procedures and prognosis are alluded to. In a third section the neuromuscular diseases, and those of the spinal column and cranium and of the endocrine system, are discussed.
In a fourth section occurs a justified digression from the previous grouping according to disease entities, when the authors devote separate chapters of four selected "leading" symptoms: headaches,
