In approximately 300 pages with 77 illustrations, the authors have compiled an outstanding work on the surgery of the blood vessels. While the book is titled, Atlas of Vascular Surgery, its well-written text includes practical material on the diagnosis of peripheral vascular disease and discussions of the indications for the various surgical procedures which are illustrated. Technical details are given. Angiographic methods are described in abundant detail. The special types of instruments used in vascular surgery are illustrated in the first chapter and, in the last chapter, the authors list for each vascular surgical procedure the special and general instruments needed.
The text is clearly written and eminently practical. The conversational style is that of the teacher at the bedside or in the operating room, discussing his personal experience rather than presenting in didactic form the published experience of others. This type of approach produces pleasant reading and easy understanding
