London Had Good Health Year.
—Warning that a measles epidemic has started was given by Dr. J. A. Scott, Medical Officer of Health, London County Council, in a report on London's health for last year. He said that cases of measles increased at the end of 1962 and the epidemic was expected to reach a peak early this year. In England and Wales there were 19,990 cases in the first week of the new year, against 1,244 in the corresponding week last year. Measles now comes in biennial epidemics in years ending in an odd number. In the first week of the last epidemic year, 1961, there were 15,989 notifications.London had a good year.
