Doctors Cornblath and Schwartz are both pediatricians with extensive training, experience, and knowledge in clinical pediatrics and research. Their book is divided into five major sections. The first deals with carbohydrate adjustments during pregnancy and in the neonate. Transient problems encountered at delivery and immediately thereafter are described in the second portion.
The last three parts deal with hereditary metabolic disorders, hypoglycemic syndromes, and sugar malabsorption syndromes. These problems are reviewed in sufficient depth to satisfy most readers and the text is an excellent reference source for the practicing pediatrician. The extensive list of references accompanying each chapter further enhances the book's value.
