This text, originally published in German by Georg Thieme in 1960, now appears in an admirable English translation. The relatively small number of pages should not mislead one to believe that this is a modest endeavor. It is in fact a large volume with more than a thousand individual illustrations and 15 chapters. A chapter on radioisotope techniques has been added in the American edition. The title was selected to emphasize that "clinical symptoms constitute the starting point of the neuroradiological examination." However, the chapter headings, except perhaps for "The Epilepsies," do not pursue this theme.
