Arnold D. Welch, MD, PhD, professor and chairman of the Department of Pharmacology at Yale University School of Medicine, received the third Torald Sollmann Award in Pharmacology at the meeting of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics in Mexico City.Comprised of $2,500 and a bronze medal presented every third year, the Sollmann award is sponsored by Wyeth Laboratories and was established in 1961 to commemorate the pioneer work of Dr. Sollmann in pharmacology.For many years, Dr. Welch has been engaged in fundamental studies on the behavior of drugs in animals and man, with special interest in cancer chemotherapy.Applications are now being received for Wyeth Pediatric Residency Fellowships that will begin July 1, 1967. Sponsored by the Wyeth Fund for Postgraduate Medical Education, each fellowship provides $4,800 over two years toward the advanced study required for board certification.Eligible to apply are interns, physicians
