Awards, Honors  Norbert Freinkel, MD, Kettering Professor of Medicine and chief of the Section on Endocrinology Metabolism at Northwestern University Medical School, received the 1966 Lilly Award of the American Diabetes Association during the 26th annual meeting in Chicago.The Award was given in recognition of demonstrated research in the field of diabetes, and for contributions to "the individual understanding of insulin homeostasis during pregnancy, and of 'alcohol hypoglycemia'."Dr. Freinkel was previously assistant professor of medicine at Harvard and a member of the Harvard Medical Service at the Boston City Hospital.Clarence C. Reed, MD, a physician living in Compton, Calif, has pledged $2 million to the University of Chicago toward the construction of a Surgery Building in the University's new Science Center.The gift from Dr. Reed, an alumnus of the University of Chicago Medical School, is the largest made thus far by an individual during the University's
