William Francis Ashe Jr., MD, professor emeritus and former chairman of the Department of Preventive Medicine, Ohio State University College of Medicine, died Feb 28 of coronary heart disease.
Dr. Ashe was born in 1909 and earned his MD degree at Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, in 1936. He was a past-president of the American Academy of Occupational Medicine and former chairman of the Committee on Aerospace Medicine of the American Medical Association's Council on Occupational Health.At the time of his death, he was a member of the editorial board of The Archives of Environmental Health.
Dr. Ashe was a fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association, and a member of the American College of Physicians, Industrial Medical Association, and American College of Preventive Medicine. His major professional areas of interest were preventive and occupational medicine and aviation medicine. Survivors include his wife, two children, and three married daughters.
