A dozen physicians from nine states and a variety of specialties began the new year with a fresh look at medical writing—their own and that of others.
The opportunity for five days of literary self-criticism and critiques of published writings was provided in January at a special workshop held at American Medical Association headquarters in Chicago.
Second Course Planned
A second such course for physicians, an outgrowth of the three-year-old AMA summer program for students, is planned for July 18-22 (see editorial page 579).Applicants are asked to submit a curriculum vitae and sample of their published or unpublished writing to Lester S. King, MD, course coordinator and JAMA senior editor.No fees will be charged; stipends are not offered.Faculty for the January course, which was sponsored by the AMA Education-Research Foundation, included Charles G. Roland, MD, JAMA senior editor; Dr. King, and Robert C. McGiffert who is affiliated
