To the Editor:—
I have noticed that at least twice in recent AMA journals the word tubercular has been used synonymously with tuberculous. Am I correct in believing that tubercular means "characterized by the presence of small nodules or tubercles," and that it is often used erroneously for tuberculous (source, Blakiston's New Gould Medical Dictionary 5th ed, 1949)? Tuberculous is defined by the above authority as "affected with, or caused by, tuberculosis." I believe this is a valid and important differentiation which it behooves medical men to recognize, so they will use the terms correctly.
