ABSTRACT

Cleveland, Ohio, June 16, 1899.

To the Editor:  —I am informed by a correspondent in Iowa that my name is being used in a circular concerning a quack cancer cure called "Vitalia." Any such use of my name is absolutely unauthorized and an outrage on common business honesty. I presume legal redress is impossible or the indecency would not have been committed. Would it be asking too much of you to publish my protest? Not perhaps that many may be misled by my name, but to put others on their guard who are no doubt being similarly victimized. The animus of the thing is probably an attempt at revenge for an editorial criticism which I wrote in the Cleveland Journal of Medicine a year or more ago, warning the profession of the methods of the concern which exploits this "cure."Very respectfully,
