PREVENTION OF PREMATURE BURIAL.

ABSTRACT

The London (England) Association for the Prevention of Premature Burial has just published its second annual report. The objects of the association are: 1. The prevention of premature burial generally, and especially amongst the members. 2. The diffusion of knowledge regarding the predisposing causes of the various forms of suspended animation or death-counterfeits. 3. The maintenance in London of a center of information and agitation. 4. According to an arrangement entered into with skilled and experienced medical experts in respect to death verifications, members of the association are guaranteed against premature burial. The executive committee reports that during the year 1898 an active propaganda was carried on in the press with the result that the association has become widely known in Great Britain and abroad. The names of twenty-one foreign and colonial correspondents are given, of whom eleven belong to the United States. The propaganda is ably carried on by
