To the Editor:
—I thank Dr. Frank Woodbury for calling my attention (The Journal, page 1620, Dec. 14, 1901) to Dr. Thomas G. Morton's case of appendectomy—April 23, 1887.In my investigation Dr. Morton's case was overlooked. It is to be regretted. In this paper, as in all I present, honest criticism is coveted. In the question of priority, I will say that Dr. Stemen of Fort Wayne, Ind., stated to me yesterday that he made a diagnosis of appendicitis, performed a celiotomy and removed the appendix during 1884.I am indeed sorry that these facts did not appear in my paper.Very truly,
