ABSTRACT

Dr. Denslow Lewis has reproduced, in book form, the clinical lectures given by him in 1887 in the Cook County Hospital, Chicago. These include the majority of the subjects included under the general head of obstetric practice, and also some sociologic papers which do not necessarily fall under the head of clinical lectures. Dr. Lewis is an able lecturer and knows how to present the cases in an interesting and edifying manner, and his lectures will be profitable reading. The student and practitioner both will find the perusal of this work instructive. We wish we could say as much in favor of the make-up of the book which is defective in several ways. The paper is of inferior quality and the changes of tints are almost trying to the eyes. It is a pity that such a meritorious volume in many respects is not better presented to the public.
