—In The Journal of January 24 there was an article by Dr. Anders, of Philadelphia, on the use of large quantities of water in typhoid fever, and I was particularly pleased that so eminent an individual as Dr. Anders endorsed the procedure in this manner and thought it worthy of attention at a meeting of the American Medical Association. In 1898 I read an article on the use of water in typhoid fever before our local society, emphasizing the great quantities required in some cases, the difficulties in teaching nurses to give the required amount, the very great influence it exercised over all the symptoms, that the patient's condition was not so critical with a very high temperature if plenty of water was given, that if a sufficient quantity were given tub-baths were not imperative, which in private practice will
