The long struggle for supremacy between the New York State Medical Society and the New York State Medical Association has at last terminated in favor of the latter, which is the accredited representative of the American Medical Association, and it is now hoped that there will soon be a union of the medical profession in that commonwealth. The special charter recently granted by the legislature, followed by the decision of Justice McAdam, of the Supreme Court, that the Association, as the accredited state representative of the American Medical Association, has the right to legally represent the profession of that state, places the State Medical Association at the head of medical organizations as the representative of the medical profession in that locality.
