—There is a bill now before the United States Senate, action upon which may be had at any time, the provisions of which are inimical to the interests of the medical profession, and to many commercial interests. It is Senate Bill 1063, Calendar No. 136, entitled "A Bill for the further Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in the District of Columbia." In accordance with the usual custom, the bill was referred to the Committee on the District of Columbia, and favorable action thereupon was unanimously recommended by said committee. On Dec. 15, 1897, Senator Gallinger, according to the Congressional Record, announced his intention to bring said bill before the Senate for discussion and action.
