These two volumes of about 800 pages each are up to date, and the articles are in general well written. There is a preliminary discussion of general etiologic and pathologic problems that serves as a valuable introduction to the more practical part of the work. There is included in the body of the book what is not commonly found in works on practice, a discussion of diseases of the skin. From the list of contributors we select a few names to show that eminent men have aided in the production of what is a most valuable work on the practice of medicine: Ashby, Bradford, Mitchell Bruce, Brunton, Gowers, Jamieson, Kanthack, Manson, Taylor, White, Woodhead, are well-known names, and there are other writers whose contributions are as valuable as those of the men just named.
