First Examinations under the New Law—State care of the Indigent Insane—The Lamborn Prize Essays on the Mosquito and its possible extermination—Cultivation of Plants under the Electric Light —A 5-year old Child falls six stories without serious injury.
The first examinations of those proposing to enter the study of medicine and law, under the direction of the Regents of the University of the State of New York, in accordance with the provisions of the new law, were held during the last week of September. In this city and Brooklyn nearly three hundred young men and a few young women were examined at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Medical Department of the University of the City of New York, and the Long Island College Hospital.
