Vols. I, II and III have already been reviewed in these columns. Vols. IV and V complete the work. The translation has been very liberal and at times the matter greatly condensed. The omission of the short bibliography which follows each principal subject in the original is a distinct loss to the translated edition, a loss for which the slight saving in space does not at all compensate. Each volume has its own index beside a general index at the end of the fifth volume which covers fifty pages and which is complete, enabling one quickly to find any subject desired.
