To the Editor:  —My attention has been directed to your note on page 1307 of The Journal, Oct. 29, 1904, on "Graduates of Medical Schools," in which the deductions drawn from the result of state board examinations in 1903, from the standpoint of a Philadelphian are quoted. It is true that taking the statistics collectively the showing is very favorable to the Philadelphia medical schools, but is it really fair to individual schools to institute such a comparison?Reference to the table on page 515 shows, for example, that the percentage of failures of Washington graduates varied from 0 to 30, and that the percentage of failures among graduates of Baltimore medical schools varied from 0 to 55.8. The deductions of the Philadelphian, if applied to the graduates of the New Orleans medical schools, would show that the percentage of failures was 71.4, when,
