Beside the usual number of valuable medical and surgical papers in this volume there is a very interesting summary of the proceedings of the Society from its original meeting by Permanent Secretary William B. Atkinson. The volume is well arranged and has an excellent index. Pittsburg was selected as the next place of meeting. The minutes are very full and show the active interest taken in various matters other than pure medical science by the Pennsylvania brethren. This society sets a good example to sister societies by devoting a page in its Transactions to the American Medical Association, explaining the method of obtaining membership and giving a favorable notice to the Journal.
