It is acknowledged that peduneulated tumors in the bladder, when not large, are best treated by removal with the operating cystoscope. After the removal of papillomata from the bladder by the open method, the growths have returned rapidly in the majority of cases and often in great number; while when they are removed with the operating cystoscope, recurrences are quite uncommon; so that to-day the removal of such neoplasms, when small and pedunculated, with the operating cystoscope, is the acknowledged operation of choice.
The illustrations show a new instrument built for me according to my own ideas of the desiderata for an instrument intended for the removal of pedunculated tumors from the bladder; its simplicity is sufficient to recommend it to all who can appreciate work of this description.
