—In reply to yours of November 2, I will say that twins were born, one African and one white child. The colored baby lived. The mother is a light-haired German woman, and I learn from her that the father was "a nigger born in slavery"—probably his father was some slave driver, at least he must have been a white man. "Breeding back," as the horseman says, seems to be applicable in this case.Yours very truly,
