ABSTRACT

The International Medical Congress—Dr. Shakespeare to go to Spain to Investigate the Cholera—Dr. Hamilton's Retention as Surgeon-General of the Marine Hospital Service—The Veterinary Department of the University of Pennsylvania.—A good Opening for Young Men.

The questions in regard to the proposed meeting of the International Medical Congress, which were the subject of so much discussion when I last wrote, have ceased to be a live issue in this city. The action of the New Committee in New York seems to leave nothing to be done but to wait and see whether the European men will come to America under the circumstances or not. It is believed here that they will not, at least not in sufficient numbers, to give the meeting an international character. It is also thought by some, and hoped by others, who did not approve of all the acts of the Original Committee,
