To the Editor:  Members of the medical profession and others, who have kindly subscribed to my work, "The Biography of Ephraim McDowell, M.D.," and who have not yet received their copy, are hereby notified that the delay has been unavoidable, owing to the magnitude of the undertaking, the necessity of my securing a certain number of subscribers before I could publish the second edition, and my desire to thoroughly revise the work and incorporate new articles of interest gathered since the issue of my first edition, which was exhausted before all orders could be filled.I have now nearly completed this revision, and hope to have the new edition published and delivered in the earlypart of the new year.As I will have to make my deliveries in the consecutive order in which the subscriptions were taken, I must ask the
