THE NEW PHARMACOPŒIA.

ABSTRACT

A new revision of the Pharmacopœia has just been placed upon our table. We will give it careful review as soon as practicable. At a hasty glance the publication shows that many changes have been made; a great many drugs have been dropped from the former list and many new preparations added. It has been revised with more care than any previous edition, and gives evidence of high scholarship and a thorough understanding of the necessities of the profession. The last revision of the Pharmacopœia prepared the way for the decimal system of weights and measures by providing that medicinal preparations should be composed of parts by weight. In this edition, the decimal or metric system is employed in the compounding of preparations throughout without qualification or translation. This change must be approved by all who appreciate simplicity in our system of weights and measures, and we predict that by
